The English Department
Discovery and Learning
The English Department primarily welcomes students from families who reside temporarily in Denmark and expect to continue their education in an international/English-speaking school.*
Each class group consists of two-year levels, allowing students to optimise their learning and meet their educational needs. This has proven to be an advantage since we receive students from many different countries with diverse educational experiences.
The department consists of 5 classes called A, B, C, D or E.
Our Primary classes (A, B, and C) correspond to Years 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6, respectively, following the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) for Stages 1-6.
In the Secondary phase, Class D covers Years 7-8, and Class E includes Years 9-10. Upon successful completion of Year 10, students have the option to advance to Year 11, culminating in the globally recognised Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
Completing English E with IGCSE qualifications provides an excellent foundation for further studies, enabling students to advance directly to A Levels or the IB Diploma Programme. For Danish high schools (gymnasiums) such as Birkerød or Nørre G, Year 11 (IGCSE) is equivalent to Danish 1g (1st year of High School), Danish 10.klasse, IB MYP5, and pre-IB.
International GCSEs and A Levels are studied by over a million students in more than 10,000 schools across 160 countries. Over 1,400 universities worldwide recognise A Level qualifications, including every UK university and 600 in the US, such as all Ivy League institutions. They are also accepted in major student destinations, including Canada, Australia, Singapore, South Africa, Germany, and the Netherlands.
At Bjørn's International School, our commitment to a Cambridge education goes beyond academics; it is a strategic preparation for global success. We strive to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive and dynamic international environment.
